CHARACTER DESIGN COMPETITION – LIVE BRIEF
Following our recent communication, I am pleased to enclose the actual brief for the above - for you to assign to those students whose course or talents you deem most appropriate to the task. I hope that they will find this stimulating and that it gives them a sense of what they might expect to encounter once they have acquired their qualifications and take up a position in the creative industry.

What’s more, I think each student that enters the competition will gain a worthwhile addition to their CV and portfolio to help when they are job-seeking. Especially the eventual winner and the two runners-up. In each of these three cases, we will be happy to provide a positive critique of the work submitted that the student can use to further their career prospects.
We are making this competition open to all students in various Further or Higher Education establishments, primarily in the North West but also in certain other parts of the UK that we believe might be interested.
By not appearing to be too ‘local’ this should help to stimulate student interest. Apart from the kudos of winning the competition and seeing their ideas translated into reality for the first time, the winning students will also benefit from the monetary value of the prizes, which will be as follows:
1st Prize £1000
2nd Prize £500
3rd Prize £250
Just to remind you, the closing date for entries is 28 March 2008. All entries must be submitted with a fully completed copyright release form (see attached).
Judging of the entries should be completed by 18 April 2008 and the judges’ decision will be final.
